It started with my trying on clothes, a bathing suit to be exact, in June 2008. I think you’ll agree that there’s nothing more depressing than looking into a full-length mirror and seeing how heavy you really are. I did that day, and yes, I was depressed. But I was also determined. I knew we had to make some changes to reverse the unhealthy direction our lives had taken.

So make changes we did. I would 45 on March 12, 2009, and I had set a goal for myself when we started that by the time I turned 45, I was going to reach my goal weight and be in the best shape of my life, and be the hottest 45 year old on the beach that year.

So here we are, nine months later. March 12th was this past Thursday and it’s time to report on how well I did. I have to admit that I didn’t reach my goal. I am still progressing toward that mark. But I did work hard and eat right this entire nine months. Does that mean that I exercised and ate right 100% of the time? No, it doesn’t. It does mean that I kept at it even when I didn’t do so well. I means that I didn’t give up when I didn’t seem to be making progress. And it means that I did exercise consistently every week, most days of the week, and I did eat right 90% of the time.

I was rewarded for my hard work today when Mike and I went out on a shopping spree as his birthday present to me. First, we stopped and bought running shoes so that I’m well-equipped to train for the 1/2 marathon. Then, it was on to clothes shopping. Mike read his Kindle and waited patiently for me as we stopped in different stores and I tried on clothes. I decided to try on both size 6 and size 4 as a marker to see where I am. Keep in mind that I was a tight size 10 when I started this journey. Today, I am thrilled to say that I fit comfortably into the size 6 jeans I tried on, and I was even able to get into and fasten size 4 jeans. I am confident that I will be wearing size 4s by the end of this summer.

I am amazed, truly amazed, and what the Beachbody programs have done for me. Here I am, age 45, and I am fitting into size 4 clothes! I have never worn size 4 in my life, but at the age of 45, I am! That is just crazy, and I’m loving it!

The really good news is that you can do this, too! It is possible, with determination and hard work! I am just like you! I love sweets, and I didn’t particularly like to exercise. In fact, I’ve always considered myself somewhat lazy. But here I am, pushing play every day and loving it! And you can, too.
